Outdoor Exploration
Program (Ages 2–5)

At Windmill, summer is a time for children to explore the world, connect with nature, and develop curiosity, independence, and a sense of wonder. Our program offers half-day (8:00–12:30) and full-day (8:00–4:30pm) options for incoming 2–5-year-olds, with most activities taking place outdoors. Children engage with natural materials, observe their surroundings, and participate in hands-on learning experiences designed for their age and development.

Mornings begin with children exploring gardens, climbing on natural structures, or investigating the environment at their own pace. A morning meeting follows, with songs, discussion, and a preview of the day’s activities, fostering community, language, and routine.

The core of each day is outdoor exploration and hands-on learning. Children may go on nature walks, plant in the garden, experiment with water or sensory activities, and create art with natural materials. Movement and music are woven throughout the day, supporting gross motor skills, coordination, and self-expression.

Full-day campers enjoy lunch and quiet/rest time, while afternoons continue with cooperative projects, creative problem-solving, and guided exploration. Each day concludes with a reflection circle, allowing children to share discoveries and integrate learning in a relaxed, joyful environment.
